Building a custom home is an exciting journey with a few moving parts. The timeline is largely driven by the permitting and design phase in Whatcom County—especially if we need to navigate critical areas or steep slopes. Once permits are in hand, the construction pace depends on the complexity of your design, material availability, and coordinating around the Pacific Northwest weather.

It is highly likely, especially if your property is on a hillside near Chuckanut Drive, Lake Whatcom, or in an area with potential erosion. Whatcom County has strict soil bearing capacity standards; if your home design requires specialized support, or if you are in a designated critical area, an engineer’s geo-report is a requirement before we can pour the foundation.

We know the rain can be stressful when your home’s framing is exposed. We strategically sequence our builds to “dry in” the house, getting the roof and exterior walls up as efficiently as possible. We also use premium water-resistant barriers and advanced house wraps to ensure the structure stays dry and protected throughout the build.
